Happy Indoor Cat

The Best For Your Indoor Cat

About Happy Indoor Cat Keeping

Hi there! Welcome to Happy Indoor Cat. My name is Alyson and I’ve been keeping cats and kittens all my life.  I also have a degree in zoology which included studying cat behaviour – I never expected that to be so useful! Recently I found myself in a position where I needed to keep a cat indoors. We’d always had outdoor / indoor cats so it was a new adventure and not without challenges. My family, I and our cat Boof learned a lot about indoor cat keeping and we wanted to share our experiences with you.

About Happy Indoor Cat Keeping

Is it fair to keep a cat indoors? Will the cat be happy and healthy or bored and tormented? We did a lot of soul-searching before adopting a cat that would need to stay indoors.

What about the humans living with the cat ? Will having a cat indoors all day every day create havoc, mess and bad smells? Will it be expensive ? Will the cat need a lot of equipment, toys, special food and litter? And what about the cat’s behaviour, how will that be affected by being an indoor cat?

These are the questions we set out to answer through this website.

You can pop over to the cat blog to read our latest in indoor cat keeping or browse the solutions we’ve found to keep us and our indoor cat healthy and happy. You’ll certainly want to look at the best cat toys and think about  kitty litter ( clumping or not ? ) and specialised indoor litter trays. You’ll be amazed by modern litter and litter box technology! The food you give your indoor cat will also affect his health and happiness along with his litter tray odours, take a look at our indoor cat food section here.

There’s certainly a lot to think about before taking on an indoor cat. Enjoy your cat and we hope you enjoy your indoor cat keeping experience. May your cat’s life be long and happy! Nothing on this site is to be taken as veterinary advice, we’re just talking to you, from one cat owner to another, about our experiences.
